Magic mail in Christmas performance on opening night. Welcome back NBA.
The Magic played a lackluster opening night game and fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder 97-89. The game was within single digits only a few moments after the first quarter and never seemed in doubt.
The Magic did their damned best to ruin Christmas for Magic fans all over the country. In honor of the team mailing in their performance tonight, I’ve decided to mail in this recap. The tweets below collectively sum up what happened tonight:
This wasn’t a good sign after all.
Turk and Jameer have both driven into the lane and MADE their layups. Very good signs. #Magic

Stop me if you’ve heard this one.
No dribble penetration right now is leading to all these jump shots. Ryan finally knocks one down.

Hedo Turkoglu is trying his absolute hardest to force a halftime Dwight trade.

Halftime poor shooting and turnover tweet. This one will make a return appearance.
17-45 from the field. Started 8-9. Finished 9-36. Also 9 turnovers. No bueno. Feliz Navidad.

From this point on, I was just trying to pretend that what I saw was real.
“@BQRMagic: “Duhon, with the shot clock at one…”” Somewhere an angel lost its wings.

Can you trade for extra amnesty provisions?

Can someone tell me the +/- for Duhon tonight? I’m guessing it’s somewhere between -15 and -187.

RT @TheDoofin Apparently Dwight got a Vince Carter costume for Christmas.

Von Wafer is trending! If SVG gave him more playtime tonight, we might have had a better ballgame. #srsly #gomagic

18 assists, 18 turnovers. #badratio

Turnovers, poor shooting, lack of offensive flow. Those were the themes for the night.
Bright Spots: Jameer Nelson, Von Wafer (!), Ryan Anderson shooting
Absolutely Not Bright Spots: Jason Richardson shooting (!!!), Chris Duhon (!), Turk’s shot selection, Earl Clark, ball movement, offensive flow, Dwight Howard scoring, bad ending to Christmas
Orlando is back in action tomorrow night in the home opener against Houston. Tip off is set for 7pm.
