Stan Van Gundy, Otis Smith & Dwight Howard meet; anything resolved?
Stan Van Gundy and Dwight Howard had a tumultuous start to the day and it didn’t end much better after the 96-80 loss to the Knicks. In between the late morning “throw each other under the bus” session and the start to tonight’s game, Stan Van Gundy, Otis Smith and Dwight Howard did indeed meet to discuss what transpired during the post shootaround media session.

A source with close knowledge of the conversation told me tonight that all involved came to a mutual understanding that all comments regarding the relationship would be deferred until after the season.
With 11 games left in the regular season, and the team struggling to overcome not just injuries, but also the Dwight-drama, the only way to keep this from being an everyday circus is for both guys to shelf the conversation. That sounds great in theory but the reality is that the team is hungover right now and with every bad showing, the questions will keep coming.
His message after the game was simple. The team comes first.
“The first response was, that’s not important right now. My job security isn’t important. Dwight’s wants aren’t important. What’s important is playing as a team.”
