In the continuing swirl of Orlando Magic rumors, it looks like the Magic are down to 5 names for the open General Manager position. None come as a surprise and all the names mentioned in the report have previously been linked to the opening at some point.

David Aldridge of NBA.com has the report and drops the following nugget in his lengthy column:

“The Magic’s GM list is five: former Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard, Spurs assistant GM Dennis Lindsey, Thunder assistant GM Troy Weaver, Thunder assistant GM and head of player personnel Rob Hennigan and former Hornets GM Jeff Bower.”

In a separate report, Ken Berger of CBS Sports says that the Magic:

“will have a GM in place within 7-10 days of the June 28th draft” and that “former Hornets GM Jeff Bower is believed to be the favorite”

Obviously if you are a normal reader of MBO, then you know that I earlier reported that the Magic were set to name a GM within a week. Well, today is the one week mark from when I issued my report and obviously it isn’t looking like that specific report will come to fruition. Maybe Stan Van Gundy was right after all about the damn media!
