Orlando Magic Front Office Turnover Continues – Dwight to Houston?
The Hennigan Express is in full gear and is wasting no time in making it’s imprint on the Orlando Magic organization. There has been a lot of news in the last 24 hours in regards to just the basketball operations department and that doesn’t even include draft rumors that are starting to pick up in full force. Here is what we know as of today:
- Orlando Magic Director of Player Development, Adonal Foyle, has been “let go” and is no longer an employee of the Orlando Magic. Foyle was once seen as a potential replacement for Otis Smith and a rising executive in the league, but unfortunately for the very sharp Foyle, he had a little bit too much Otis residue remaining. Adonal Foyle, out.
Today I was let go from the Orlando #Magic. Thank you to the people of #Orlando for your loyal support. I look forward to my next adventure.

- Orlando Magic Assistant GM Dave Twardzik was also fired by Hennigan. When Otis Smith decided not to return, Twardzik remained with the team and handled the draft preparations. He has been with the organization since 2003 and in his current role since 2005. Six of the team’s scouts were also let go along with Twardzik.
- It didn’t take long for Hennigan to fill Twardzik’s open position as he has reportedly hired Scott Perry from the Detroit Pistons who held the same position in Detroit.
Scott Perry has been hired by Orlando GM Rob Hennigan to be the Magic’s assistant GM, sources say. Perry was the Pistons’ VP of BBall Ops

Draft rumors too! Could Dwight Howard be headed to Houston? The Rockets are one team that has not-so-secretly expressed their interest in acquiring Dwight Howard as a rental with hopes that they
The Rockets are reportedly trying to move their 14th and 16th picks in an attempt to acquire two top 10 picks that they could use in a deal to swing Dwight. The Kings(#5 pick) and Toronto (#8) are the teams most rumored to be shopping their pick in return for a veteran. i.e. Kyle Lowry for the #8 pick. Most draft sites have consistently had either Harrison Barnes or Michael Kidd-Gilchrist at #5 and a whole slew of options at #8 from Austin Rivers, Dion Waiters, Andre Drummond and even Damion Lillard. If Orlando walked away from the draft with MKG and Lillard, that would be an A++++++. It’s also dream land.
If Houston could pull it off and acquire the picks, they certainly could offer quite a strong package with either Kevin Martin (expiring deal) or Luis Scola and the picks.
More to come…
