Thanksgiving Giveback featuring J.J. and Chelsea Redick

2012 November 20
by Brian Serra

J.J. Redick and his wife, Chelsea, continued their charitable ways tonight by donating and distributing thanksgiving meals to families in need. Through his foundation, Redick has provided meals to families at the Rosemont Community Center for several years. Redick was also awarded the Rich and Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award last year.

The Rosemont Community Center opened in October 2005 and offers a variety of adult and youth after school programs. The center also houses a computer lab, arts and crafts room, game room, and teen room.

Orlando Magic players, staff and community partners will combine to feed approximately 1,100 Central Florida children and families through Thanksgiving meal distributions over the next few days.

In addition, the Magic is teaming up with the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida in recognition of National Hunger and Homeless Awareness month in November.  The team will donate $10 from every ticket purchased for the November 23 game vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers back to the Coalition.  All tickets purchased via THIS LINK will be directed towards this initiative.  Fans will also be given the opportunity to donate $10 by texting SERVE to 80100.

So if you want to be a good person and more like J.J. Redick, then give a few bucks back to those less fortunate. I promise, it’ll feel good.
