Al Harrington Doesn’t Know How to Spell ‘Retirement’
Christmas isn’t until tomorrow, but Al Harrington received the gift of running and jumping today at the Amway Center practice facility. Don’t get anxious about Al returning yet, he’s got a lengthy path ahead before he’s sprinting and drilling shots in real game action. But you can imagine the relief and joy inside Al when you see him talk about how he’d been limping on his surgically-repaired right knee for 8 months. How he had to suffer the setback of a staph infection, and how he had to extinguish the rumors of an early retirement. Al wants to play for another “15 years” in this league and isn’t prepared to learn how to spell ‘retirement’ as viewed below in his post-practice interview.
You can see in the footage below that Al is cutting, and spinning freely on that right knee while showing just a hint of precaution. Al was practicing on his own for about 2 hours and produced quite a sweat as he’s building up his conditioning. It’s wonderful progress that GM Rob Hennigan and Coach Jacque Vaughn and staff are thrilled to witness out of the 32-year-old.
