Playing for the second consecutive night, the Orlando Magic fell flat late in Dallas and lost to the Mavericks by a score of 111-96.

After giving up a season high 42 first quarter points and trailing by as many as 16 points early, the Magic buckled down on defense to fight their way back into the game, trailing by just one heading into the 4th quarter. Down four with six minutes to play, Dallas exploded on a 17-0 run to blow the game away.

Arron Afflalo led Orlando in scoring tonight with 21 points and tied his career high with seven assists. Maurice Harkless had a career high scoring night with 20 points. Nik Vucevic had 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Elton Brand and Shawn Marion led the Mavericks in scoring with 17 points each. Vince Carter had 14 points and one huge unexpected alley-oop finish.

Despite the final score, it was an entertaining game despite a few tough stretches that ended up costing the team the game.  Both Harkless and Andrew Nicholson showed plenty of confidence on the offensive end. However, having both rookies on the floor is causing severe defensive liabilities.

“It boils downt o guys helping each other”, Jacque Vaughn said after the game “It’s really the five guys doing it collectively.” #nocheeseburgers

Jameer Nelson left the game with just under five minutes left after hurting his left knee. X-Rays were taken after the game, but no results were released. He will be reevaluated tomorrow once back in Orlando.

The good news (or bad – probably bad) is that as of 11:oo PM EST, nobody has been traded.
