Magic “Leaning Strongly” Towards Picking Nerlens Noel

Over the last few weeks, there have been several rumors surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers and what they plan to do with the top overall pick.

Several outlets have reported not only is Cleveland looking to trade the pick, but if they do keep it, they will use the selection to take Maryland center Alex Len, rather than Kentucky center Nerlens Noel, who most assumed would be the top pick.

Due to the Noel assumption, most believed the Orlando Magic would pick between Kansas guard Ben McLemore, Indiana wing Victor Oladipo and possibly Michigan point guard Trey Burke.

Many wondered if the Magic would pounce on Noel if the Cavaliers didn’t.

According to ESPN’s Chad Ford, they would.

Ford, citing sources, says “that if the Cavs pass on Kentucky big man Nerlens Noel, the Magic are leaning strongly toward selecting him with the No. 2 pick in the draft. “

Honestly, Noel seems like an easy pick to make if doctors have already cleared him and he claims they have.

Ford goes on to say the Magic “scouted Noel heavily during the season and have been doing exhaustive background work on Noel the past few months” and “the team believes that, with patience, Noel should end up being the best player in the draft.”

We profiled Noel here.
