Victor Oladipo found out he was being selected by the Orlando Magic after the entire Twitter universe. With every major news outlet reporting the picks minutes before they are made, there is no need for the average man to wait. For Oladipo, he was left in the dark.

When asked by the media when he sensed he was being taken by Orlando, he paused, smiled and answered, “I had a sense when they called my name. My agent wouldn’t tell me.”

Victor, known for his ferocious work rate both on and off the court, seems ready to take a red-eye to Orlando tonight and hit the practice floor with his new comments. His energy seems to never stop.

“It was a great atmosphere; they were very thorough in what they did and it was just a great time. They definitely made me feel at home and they are good at what they do – I’m just looking to getting down there and getting started.” -Oladipo on his workout in Orlando

The way that Oladipo carries himself with poise and humble confidence, he seems like the exact model of a Rob Hennigan designed basketball player. He used that inner framework to set himself apart from his opposition in the draft process.

“Just me as a person, definitely.  Just them watching me countlessly throughout the year and seeing how I can affect the game on both ends of the floor. Essentially me going up there and showing them what kind of man I am and what I am willing to do to get some work in, ya know, just sort of put me over the edge.” -Victor Oladipo on what put him ahead of his competition

As you speak with Victor, his energy is infectious. You understand why so many teams in the draft attempted to move up to select him. Whether he ends up being Wade 2.0 or not, there is no doubt that he will come in and motivate and push every player on the Magic roster to be better.

Twelve hours into the most stressful day of his life, I closed our chat with a simple question. What is your goal for Summer League?

“Win”

Always?

“Always win.”

That win at all costs, passionate, killer attitude won Rob Hennigan and the Orlando Magic organization over. Orlando Magic fans won’t be far behind.
