In some somewhat surprising news, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting the Orlando Magic plan to use Victor Oladipo, the #2 overall pick, at point guard during Orlando Pro Summer League.

“Something interesting to watch in summer league: Orlando’s Victor Oladipo getting major run at PG – in mold of young Russell Westbrook,” tweeted Wojnarowski.

Immediately, pundits began to question the move because some of the biggest questions about Oladipo’s game revolve around his handling and ability to create. Orlando Pinstriped Post’s Evan Dunlap cited Oladipo’s assist-to-turnover ratio (175 assists, 203 turnovers) “in case you’re curious.”

If you’ve been listening to Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, this probably isn’t that surprising. When asked about Oladipo’s position after Thursday night’s draft, Hennigan responded “we see him as a guard.”

Of course, this is only summer league. The Magic may simply be trying to get a better feel for Oladipo’s game in an actual game setting.
