Magic-Celtics Day 1 Summer League Postgame Interviews

2013 July 7
by Adam Papageorgiou

The Magic got off on the right foot Sunday on Day 1 of the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League, defeating the Boston Celtics 95-88 inside a packed Amway Center practice facility. Orlando draft picks Victor Oladipo and Romero Osby certainly didn’t disappoint in their debuts. Enjoy interviews from them, Summer League Head Coach James Borrego, Kyle O’Quinn, and Maurice Harkless.

Victor Oladipo: “Credit my teammates…without them I probably would’ve been all over the place and they kind of settled me down, helped me through my mistakes, just helped me be poised out there. It was fun…We’re looking to build a dynasty here.”

Romero Osby: “Just play hard. The rest of the stuff will come…but if you can bring that consistent effort every day and talk on defense, the energy for your teammates, that’s big. That’s huge. That’s something you can’t teach. I just want to bring those intangibles.”

James Borrego: “That’s our message to them, got to play better defensively. But, we responded in the 4th quarter.”

Maurice Harkless: “I’ve just got to stay in attack mode always…I missed a couple of lay-ups but they’ll go down if I just keep attacking.”

Kyle O’Quinn: “All of those days in the gym, sacrificing your summer staying here, putting that work in with the coaches, and Joe [Rogowski], I mean you want to go out there and put it to show.”
