Oladipo, Orlando Magic earn blowout win over Detroit Pistons
Double-doubles from Victor Oladipo, Tobias Harris and Nik Vucevic propelled the Orlando Magic to a blowout home victory over the Detroit Pistons, 109-92. The win for the Magic ended a five-game losing streak on their home floor, dating back to November 27th.
Nik Vucevic scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Tobias Harris had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Victor Oladipo had 16 points and a career-high 11 assists off the bench to help the Magic complete the rare triple, double-double.
Arron Afflalo led the team in scoring with 23 points as the Magic were able to essentially do as they pleased on the offensive end of the floor all night, with a hapless overall effort from the Detroit Pistons. Brandon Jennings led Detroit with 21 points.
“We did it as a team tonight and that’s what is most important.” -Nik Vucevic
Orlando’s second unit came in and provided some fiery energy to start the second quarter, including a nasty Ronnie Price left handed dunk from outside the restricted circle. With Andre Drummond stuck on the bench in foul trouble, Victor Oladipo and the Magic guard attacked the paint for the remainder of the 2nd quarter as they scored 29 points. A 30 point 3rd quarter behind even worse Detroit defensive effort, put the game away early.
Full credit has to be given to the Orlando Magic for their strong shooting performance, ball movement and overall effort level. The team even scored a season high 58 points in the paint, against a gigantic Pistons frontline.
“The coaches put together a great game plan tonight. Stopping their front-court guys… we did a great job of that tonight and we played together on the offensive end. Everything was impressive tonight, but for us it’s all about moving forward to the next game and bringing that same kind of energy.” – Tobias Harris
