The Orlando Magic and Glen Davis have agreed to a buyout that is expected to become official Friday morning.

Several teams, including the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, are expected to pursue Davis, who will become an unrestricted free agent should he clear waivers.

“It became apparent that they felt it was necessary to try to allow their younger players more time on the court and were in a full rebuild mode,” Davis’ agent, John Hamilton, told Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel.

“That also meant that would probably impact Glen’s time on the floor. So this is probably the best thing for both the Magic and for Glen. It gives him the opportunity to start anew with a new club that’s in the playoff hunt, and it gives the Magic the opportunity to put their young guys on the floor and give them valuable time playing.”

This should give second-year players Andrew Nicholson and Kyle O’Quinn more playing time. The Magic could move Nicholson into Davis’ starting spot or play Tobias Harris at the Four, stick Arron Afflalo at the Three and go with Victor Oladipo at the Two.

Davis joined the Magic prior to the 2011-12 season. He was acquired in a sign-and-trade from the Boston Celtics in exchange for fellow former LSU Tiger Brandon Bass.
