Report: Orlando Magic to sign Dewayne Dedmon
Fresh off the subtraction of Glen Davis, the Orlando Magic are wasting no time adding to their roster. After reports surfaced earlier today that Orlando would sign Adonis Thomas to a 10-day contract, it is now being reported the Magic are also set to sign big man Dewayne Dedmon.
Magic expected to sign free agent C Dewayne Dedmon to a 10day contract Monday, a source said. Ex-Sixer hoped to sign long-term with Philly.

Dedmon is a 24-year old, 7′ Center out of USC who has had two previous stints in the NBA this season. He was signed as a free agent by the Golden State Warriors back in November, seeing action in four games and had two seperate 10-day stints with the Philadelphia 76ers in January. Dedmon was ranked as the number one D-League prospect coming into this season and is averaging 15.2 ppg and 13.5 rpg in 15 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors. He was also selected to the Futures All-Stars last weekend in New Orleans.
Dewayne went undrafted out of the University of Southern California, but played Summer League for the Miami in the Orlando Pro Summer League and for the Dallas Mavericks in Las Vegas. Like many fringe big men, Dedmon came into basketball at a late age and didn’t play High School basketball until his senior year. After playing just one year at small Antelope Valley (real place) as a sophomore, he eventually transferred to USC where he would play two years. He averaged 6.7 ppg and 7 rpg in his senior year.
Big man prospect, lots to like – and will certainly challenge Vucevic and O’Quinn on the practice floor. Dedmon, like Adonis Thomas, is expected to join the team in Washington for Tuesday’s game with the Wizards.Powered by Sidelines
