Recap: Orlando Magic no match for Miami Heat
After finally ending the team’s dreaded 16-game road losing streak on Wednesday night in Philadelphia, the Orlando Magic were manhandled in Miami on Saturday, with the Heat cruising to an easy 112-98 victory. With LeBron James and mask-gate defining the storylines of the game, Orlando hoped to at least come in and match the energy and keep the game close and against the defending champs.
While Orlando was able to keep the game close through the first quarter, ultimately Miami wore down the pedestrian Orlando defense to the tune of 89 total points through the first three quarters. Dwyane Wade led the Heat with 24 points while LeBron, and his clear face mask, put up 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. No Miami Heat starter played more than 31 minutes in the win.
Orlando, who was without leading scorer Arron Afflalo for the 4th straight game, struggled to sustain any offensive input following a 30-point first quarter. The team was led on the night by Tobias Harris’ 20 points and double-doubles from both of their big men; Nik Vucevic with 18 points, 11 rebounds and Kyle O’Quinn with 14 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in just 22 minutes.
Orlando would shoot just 4-18 from three-point distance and saw their starting backcourt of Jameer Nelson and Victor Oladipo combine to shoot 3-14 from the field for just 13 points.
The good news for the now 18-43 Magic is they get to return home Sunday night and get another chance at a win against the Philadelphia
Abrams 76ers. Tip is set for 6pm EST.
