Magic donating ticket proceeds tonight to Second Harvest Food Bank
The Orlando Magic is teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank, FOX Sports Florida and WOFL FOX 35 for Hoops for Hunger Night tonight when the Magic take on the Denver Nuggets, tip off set for 7:00 p.m. The team will donate $5 for every ticket purchased through www.OrlandoMagic.com/hunger to the March 12 game to Second Harvest Food Bank’s Hi-Five Kids Pack Program.
In an effort to raise awareness for this cause, the Magic will utilize its internal assets including orlandomagic.com, instagram, twitter and facebook; FOX Sports Florida will promote the night in-game and leading up to the game; and FOX 35 has been airing a PSA featuring Magic players Victor Oladipo and Kyle O’Quinn. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to participate in Second Harvest Food Bank’s virtual food drive at Fan Fest pregame and during the game the Magic will highlight many of its initiatives in the fight against hunger, encouraging fans to get involved.
The Hi-Five Kids Packs Program provides nutritious meals to underserved children who do not have access to school cafeterias during the weekend. Each Pack contains kid-friendly food such as cereal, fresh milk and juice, fruit cups and more. The Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida partners with 23 public elementary schools in the tri-county area to distribute the Hi-Five Kids Packs to children who participate in the schools’ free and reduced-cost lunch programs.
