Orlando Magic Lose to the Nets

The Orlando Magic fell to the Brooklyn Nets 97-88 on Sunday night in Brooklyn.  The Magic really played well in this one, all things considered.  If not for being on the wrong end of a 13-0 run in the middle of the 3rd quarter, this game was very even throughout.  Orlando was led in scoring by Tobias Harris with 18 points off the bench.  Jameer Nelson and Nik Vucevic sat this one out, and the bench came up big for Orlando, as Coach Vaughn was limiting Victor Oladipo’s minutes.

The game started out with Orlando controlling much of the action on both ends of the court.  Very good effort and intensity tonight for a team just playing out the string.  Coach Vaughn went to the bench early and often tonight, even dusted off Ronnie Price, who played extremely well with 6 points and 6 assists.  They finished the first half up by 3 and seemed to be rolling.

At the start of the second half, Orlando struggled making shots.  As I said earlier a 13-0 spelled doom for them tonight.  The Nets got hot from outside, and were led in scoring by Mirza Teletovic with 20 points, all of them seemingly coming during this run and the second half.  Orlando only tallied 35 points in the second half, but dont mistake that for lack of effort.  The effort was there tonight, they just ran up against a more talented team.

There were alot of encouraging things tonight during this game.  Bench play was good.  Tobias Harris played extremely well.  Andrew Nicholson scored in double figures.  This team has proven resilient this year and I think this game tonight proves they are on the right path in their rebuilding.

The Magic turn right around and play in Chicago tomorrow night.  Tip off set for 8pm from the United Center.  Only two games remain this season.
