Last year, it looked like the Orlando Magic could be close to pulling off a trade for then Los Angeles Clippers’ guard Eric Bledsoe in exchange for guard Arron Afflalo.

Instead, the Clippers acquired former Magic guard J.J. Redick in a sign-and-trade with the Milwaukee Bucks that sent Bledsoe to the Phoenix Suns and Afflalo went on to have a career year. Now that Bledsoe is set to become a restricted free agent, many believe the Magic will again be interested in acquiring him.

According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, the Magic’s interest in Bledsoe is “massively overstated.”

Orlando’s interest in Eric Bledsoe has been so massively overstated. I think Orlando would get involved in a Kevin Love deal for themselves… not sure they would be brokers and I also doubt Orlando is paying Bledsoe’s asking price in a sign and trade either.

Bledsoe averaged17.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 47.7% from the field, 35.7% from beyond the arc and 77.2% from the free throw line last season.
