Evan Fournier is Introduced in Orlando

2014 July 1
by Adam Papageorgiou

Evan Fournier was officially introduced by the Orlando Magic today. The 21-year-old of half-Algerian and half-French descent chatted about his move from Denver in the Arron Afflalo trade, and what Magic fans can expect from him this upcoming season. Evan reflected on what fellow Frenchmen like Tony Parker and Boris Diaw meant to him, while also not hiding his excitement for participating with the French senior national team in the FIBA World Cup that begins in August. View the entire interview below:

Fournier hasn’t selected a jersey number for the Magic yet. He wore #94 in Denver which is the district number he lived in in France. Evan chatted about his parents and how both were professional judo athletes. The 6′ 7″ guard mentioned how he ended up playing basketball instead of pursuing a soccer or judo career. Magic teammates Victor Oladipo, Tobias Harris, and Nikola Vucevic have already reached out to Evan. Fournier was impressed with Vucevic carrying a conversation in French.

Maurice Harkless will be happy to know that Fournier is a big Game of Thrones fan as well. I’m willing to bet that the 20th overall pick in the 2012 Draft will become a fan favorite quite quickly. Both for his style and European looks, but more importantly for what he can do on the court. Twitter will be flooded with #MoreChampagne  and #4nier hashtags in no time.
