Ben Gordon and Willie Green Have First Magic Interviews
The Orlando Magic followed the end of its Summer League with introductory interviews with Ben Gordon and Willie Green. This coming shortly after Gordon’s deal with the Magic had become official. Willie had been waived by the Clippers and then claimed by the Magic back on June 30th, something that surprised Green. The 31-year-old Gordon and 33-year-old Green both seem to be bought into the Magic wanting to develop the youth, while at the same time claiming they have plenty to give on the court and won’t be afraid to challenge the young guns. Ben just appeared relieved to be in a different environment that isn’t Charlotte.
Meanwhile, Willie is very familiar with the wonders of Orlando and the nightmare that is I-4 traffic.
With both signings, Assistant GMs Scott Perry and Matt Lloyd having past relationships with the new acquisitions played a critical role in the decision to bring on both veterans. Rob Hennigan talked about Ben and Willie, answered some Summer League rookie questions, laughed off a LeBron James inquiry, and talked about continuing the process to have the Erie Bayhawks ready for the D-League season.
