Nicholson and Canada Struggle in Croatia
The Canadian men’s basketball national team lost the first game of their back-to-back exhibition series against Croatia, falling 69-64 on Friday. The game wasn’t streamed live so there are no highlights to go off of. There weren’t many folks at the game in Slavonski Brod, Croatia either. There is a box score though. Orlando Magic big man Andrew Nicholson started. In just under 22 minutes, the 24-year-old managed only 2 points on 1-of-2 shooting on two-pointers and a bad 0-for-4 from 3-point range. ‘Drew did snag 6 rebounds and dish out 2 assists. Canada was up 35-33 at halftime, but the hosts utilized a 20-12 fourth quarter to take the result.
Dario Saric, who was drafted 12th overall back in June by the Magic before being traded to Philadelphia in the Elfrid Payton deal, had a much better showing. Saric started and tallied 14 points (4-of-9 on two-pointers and 1-of-3 from 3-point range), 6 rebounds, and 1 assist in 23 minutes of action.
Canada and Croatia will once again play each other on Saturday in Slavonski Brod, Croatia.
