Canada Concludes Italian Tournament with Win, Nicholson Scores 13 Points

Canada’s senior men’s national basketball team will depart Italy with a victory as they defeated Bosnia-Herzigovina 84-66 on Tuesday to conclude the 3-day exhibition tournament in the Italian town of Trieste. Orlando Magic big man Andrew Nicholson didn’t start, but still scored 13 points and snagged a rebound. ‘Drew shot 5-of-8 from the field (3-of-6 on three-pointers). Below is his shot chart.


Canada led for most of the contest, but only held a narrow advantage entering the fourth period before utilizing a 20-10 final 10-minute session to blow out their opponent. Boston Celtic Kelly Olynyk paced Canada with 15 points and 6 rebounds while San Antonio Spur Cory Joseph contributed 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists off the bench. Brooklyn Net Mirza Teletovic tallied 17 points in defeat.

There is no rest for the weary just yet as Coach Jay Triano’s Canada squad now travels to Coruna, Spain where they will take on FIBA World Cup hosts Spain on Wednesday. It’ll be the 6th game in six consecutive days that Canada will be playing.
